Ericsson and Hack for Earth have launched the Ericsson Sustainability Challenge, a hackathon aimed at empowering young innovators, startups and university students across the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain to develop technology-driven solutions for sustainability and climate action.
Open to participants aged 18 and above, the challenge will explore how technologies such as AI, IoT and next-generation connectivity can support sustainable digital transformation and build smarter, more resilient communities.
The programme follows Hack for Earth’s Dream-Hack-Build methodology, taking participants from identifying sustainability challenges to developing and accelerating practical solutions. Registration opens on August 17 through the Hack for Earth platform.
Winning teams will gain access to the six-month Build for Earth accelerator programme, where they will work with mentors, industry experts and Ericsson’s ecosystem to develop their ideas into scalable solutions. Winners will also have an opportunity to showcase their innovations at Ericsson’s booth at GITEX GLOBAL.
The initiative combines Ericsson’s technology expertise with Hack for Earth’s innovation platform to support the next generation of changemakers and demonstrate how digitalisation and connectivity can contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.
