Ericsson and MTN Group Fintech have completed the migration of MTN’s Mobile Money (MoMo) platform to a standardized cloud-native architecture across key markets, including Ghana, Eswatini, Rwanda and Uganda.
The upgrade, built on the Ericsson Fintech Platform, is designed to improve performance, operational efficiency and scalability as demand for digital financial services grows. MTN has recorded reductions of up to 86% in CPU processing overhead and database load, while API response times have improved by up to 80% in migrated markets.
The transformation is also being extended to other markets, with Cameroon currently undergoing migration and discussions underway for Benin, the Republic of Congo and Zambia. The initiative supports MTN Group’s Ambition 2030 strategy by creating a stronger digital foundation for expanding financial services and improving experiences for consumers, merchants and ecosystem partners across Africa.
