MTN Ghana’s Network Investment Earns Top P3 Recognition

MTN Ghana has been named Ghana’s Mobile Network Test Champion by independent benchmarking organisation P3, following a network assessment that ranked the operator first across several key performance categories.

MTN Ghana recorded an overall score of 5,975 points, the highest among operators assessed. The study evaluated voice, data, media services, AI readiness, coverage, reliability and overall network performance, using more than 8.5 million crowd-sourced samples collected across Ghana between July 20 and August 16, 2026.

The company ranked first in Consumer Experience, Industry Experience, AI Readiness, Data Performance, Coverage, Reliability and Overall Network Performance, and also topped both urban and non-urban environments.

The recognition comes as MTN Ghana commits approximately US$1.1 billion to network and digital infrastructure over the next three years, including about US$380 million in 2026.

As part of the investment programme, MTN Ghana is rolling out 500 new network sites nationwide this year, with a focus on expanding coverage, improving capacity and strengthening connectivity in underserved communities.

Stephen Blewett, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, said the recognition demonstrated that the company’s network investments were translating into improved customer experiences.

He said MTN Ghana would continue investing in robust and resilient infrastructure to support Ghana’s digital transformation, innovation and economic growth.

The P3 assessment also highlighted MTN Ghana’s AI readiness, reflecting the network’s capacity to support emerging AI-enabled services and next-generation digital applications.

Reuben Opata, Chief Technical Officer of MTN Ghana, said the company’s network investment strategy was centred on improving customer experience while ensuring the network remains ready for evolving digital demands.

The recognition comes as MTN Ghana marks its 30th anniversary and continues to implement its Ambition 2030 strategy, which includes investments in digital infrastructure, innovation and digital inclusion.
