Ericsson is celebrating 150 years of global innovation and 30 years of operations in Ghana, highlighting its long-standing partnership with the government, telecommunications industry and wider society.
Since entering Ghana in 1996, Ericsson has played a key role in the country’s telecommunications development, including supporting the launch of the first commercial GSM network. The company has since contributed to major technology milestones such as 3G, 4G, rural connectivity solutions and infrastructure supporting mobile financial services.
Looking ahead, Ericsson is focusing on the next phase of Ghana’s digital transformation through 5G and differentiated connectivity, cloudification and automation, enterprise and mission-critical networks, and mobile financial services. Majda Lahlou Kassi, Vice President and Head of Ericsson West and Southern Africa, said the anniversary renews the company’s commitment to working with partners to accelerate digitalisation, foster innovation and create new opportunities in Ghana. Rostand Njomgang, Head of Cluster Central Ericsson West and Southern Africa, also highlighted the importance of skills development and ecosystem investment as Ghana advances toward becoming a digital leader.
