Telecel Ghana CEO Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai has urged mining companies to rethink recruitment and employee development as artificial intelligence and emerging technologies reshape the workplace.
Speaking at the 7th Biennial Human Resource Conference of the Ghana Chamber of Mines in Accra, she encouraged businesses to focus not only on current vacancies but also on the skills they will need in the future.
She highlighted growing demand for skills such as cybersecurity, data engineering, cloud computing and digital marketing, noting that competition for specialised talent is increasing across sectors.
Obo-Nai also called for continuous employee learning, greater participation of women in technology and engineering, and stronger investment in youth digital skills. She said organisations that proactively develop their people will be better positioned to remain competitive in Ghana’s evolving economy.
