HUAWEI IN GHANA

Huawei has maintained a strong presence in Ghana since 2005, building strategic partnerships with the Government of Ghana, telecommunications operators, businesses and consumers. The company has played an instrumental role in expanding and modernising Ghana’s digital infrastructure, from broadband rollout to next-generation network development.
Huawei Ghana has 90 percent of its workforce as Ghanaian nationals, and its commercial footprint also helps provide thousands of jobs across related industries.

As a responsible corporate citizen, Huawei Ghana is committed to making meaningful and sustainable contributions to the communities in which it operates. Through its CSR programmes, the company actively invests in education, digital skills development, healthcare, and community welfare— with a focus on empowering youth, women, and underserved populations with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in the growing digital economy.

Some key CSR activities include: the LEAP programme, which has equipped thousands of graduates and ICT professionals with industry-ready digital skills; the Women in Tech initiative, providing Senior High School girls and female traders with foundational digital skills training; and the Seeds for the Future programme, giving Ghanaian students exposure to advanced technologies on a global stage. Huawei Ghana has also made significant investments in healthcare facilities, ICT laboratories for universities, Community Information Centres in underserved regions, and the renovation of public libraries to broaden access to knowledge and learning.

In recognition of these sustained contributions, Huawei Ghana has been honoured as CSR ICT Company of the Year at the Ghana CSR Excellence Awards for four consecutive years— a reflection of the company’s long-term commitment to Ghana’s socio-economic development. The company has also received the Most Innovative Service Provider Award and the Best Company with Innovation in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the Mobex Africa Awards, as well as the Top Employer Award from the Top Employers Institute among others.

Huawei remains steadfast in its commitment to being a trusted partner in Ghana’s journey toward a knowledge-driven, digitally inclusive future, investing not only in world-class technology but in the people, institutions, and communities that will define Ghana’s digital future.
