Sam George Calls for Meaningful Connectivity Across Africa

Ghana’s Communications Minister, Sam Nartey George, has urged African countries to focus on meaningful connectivity rather than merely expanding network coverage. Speaking at the African Telecommunications Union conference in Abuja, he stressed that digital inclusion requires affordable internet, capable devices, sufficient data, digital skills and trust.

He highlighted Ghana’s initiatives, including rural telephony, 5G licensing, ECOWAS Free Roaming, One Million Coders and Girls-in-ICT, while calling for stronger African collaboration to build a self-reliant digital future.
