Ericsson Japan has unveiled four future scenarios exploring how AI and connectivity could shape Japanese society by 2035. The scenarios are part of its “Enter New Horizons” initiative and are being showcased at Ericsson Forum 2026 from September 28 to 30.
The scenarios focus on manufacturing, infrastructure and energy, mobility, and regional sustainability. They examine how AI, drones, sensing technologies, autonomous systems and advanced mobile networks could support manufacturing, protect infrastructure, improve transportation and help communities respond to demographic and workforce challenges.
Ericsson said the scenarios are not predictions, but are intended to encourage discussion about the future role of connectivity as networks evolve from 5G Standalone toward 6G. The company sees mobile networks working alongside AI, cloud and computing to support increasingly connected physical systems and digital services.
