Telecel Ghana Concludes SME Month with Business Runway in Takoradi

Telecel Ghana has concluded its 2026 SME Month celebrations with the Telecel Business Runway in Takoradi, the first time the flagship event has been held outside Accra.

Held under the theme “Connect to Growth: Unlock More,” the event brought together more than 300 SMEs, start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors and business advisers for training, mentorship, networking and market exposure.

Telecel Ghana CEO Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai said the company is investing more than GH¢500 million in network expansion and reliability this year. She added that alternative fibre routes had been secured to maintain connectivity to the Central and Western Regions despite fibre cuts caused by road construction and vandalism.

Keynote speaker Dr. Daniel McKorley, Chairman of McDan Group, stressed the importance of having the right business model, people and technology to build sustainable businesses.

Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson highlighted opportunities for SMEs in sectors including the Takoradi Port, oil and gas, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and logistics.

The event also featured a panel discussion on entrepreneurship, funding and tax compliance, an SME product exhibition and a Creatorthon masterclass focused on digital visibility and business growth.

The 2026 SME Month builds on previous Telecel initiatives supporting women and youth entrepreneurs, AI training, capacity-building and SME business development.
