C-Squared Africa and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) have signed an agreement for a feasibility study to explore the deployment of fibre-optic cables along Ghana’s existing electricity infrastructure.
The initiative is aimed at supporting the expansion of affordable and reliable digital connectivity across the country by making use of existing electricity infrastructure for fibre deployment.
The agreement was signed during the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum 2026 in Accra, jointly organised by the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana, the U.S. Embassy in Accra, the U.S. Commercial Service and USTDA.
The signing was witnessed by U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Rolf Olson and Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George.
The feasibility study comes as Ghana seeks to strengthen its digital infrastructure to support growing demand for technologies such as artificial intelligence and other digital services.
C-Squared Africa’s partnership with USTDA will assess the potential of using existing power infrastructure to accelerate fibre deployment, which could help extend high-speed connectivity to more communities while supporting Ghana’s broader digital transformation goals.
