Ericsson is strengthening its position in the digital financial services market through a new collaboration with FIS to provide a pre-integrated platform for wallet-led financial services.
The partnership combines Ericsson’s Fintech Platform—which provides wallet infrastructure, digital identity, ledger functions and open APIs—with FIS’s payments and issuing capabilities. The integration is designed to help telecom operators, enterprises and other organisations launch digital wallet services faster while reducing the complexity of connecting multiple technology systems.
Ericsson said its fintech platform has more than 15 years of operational experience, supporting over 131 million active 90-day users and processing about US$80 billion in monthly transaction value across 24 countries.
The collaboration highlights Ericsson’s growing ambition to build fintech into a significant business area alongside its telecommunications operations, particularly as connectivity, digital identity and mobile payments increasingly converge.
With digital wallets expanding across telecoms, banking, retail and other sectors, Ericsson is positioning its fintech infrastructure as a foundation for organisations seeking to deliver secure, scalable mobile financial services.
