The Ministry of Communications, in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Mr. Lameni Awudu, and the Suaman District Assembly, has donated ICT equipment to the newly constructed ICT Centre in Suaman District. The donation includes ten desktop computers, UPS units, printers, and photocopier machines, all aimed at strengthening digital learning and improving access to information technology in the district.
Mr. Lameni Awudu highlighted that the initiative reflects the commitment of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to expand ICT access nationwide. He explained that the donation is part of Ghana’s broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to bridge the digital divide and ensure that every Ghanaian benefits from ICT opportunities. GIFEC, as an agency under the Ministry of Communications, has been instrumental in rolling out community ICT centres and training programs across underserved areas of Ghana, including Suaman, to promote digital inclusion.
Hon. Vasco Obour, District Chief Executive for Suaman Dadieso, expressed profound gratitude to the President and his appointees for supporting the district with the much-needed ICT resources. He noted that the equipment will empower communities with digital skills, enhance education, and strengthen local capacity in technology and digitalisation.
The Suaman ICT Centre is expected to serve as a hub for students, teachers, entrepreneurs, and community members, providing training in basic and intermediate digital skills. This aligns with GIFEC’s national programs, which have already reached over 157 training centres across Ghana, targeting youth, women entrepreneurs, persons with disabilities, and artisans.
By equipping the Suaman District with modern ICT tools, the government and its partners aim to foster innovation, improve educational outcomes, and prepare communities for participation in Ghana’s growing digital economy.
