MTN Ghana’s Board Chairman, Dr Ishmael Yamson, says the company is entering a new phase of growth focused on nationwide fibre expansion, 5G, artificial intelligence and greater innovation as it marks 30 years of operations in Ghana.
Speaking at MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary golf tournament at Achimota Golf Club, Dr Yamson described the company’s first three decades as an “extraordinary front nine”, highlighting its growth to more than 30 million subscribers, expansion of mobile money and wider fibre connectivity.
He said the company’s next phase, or “back nine”, would focus on reaching underserved communities and expanding access to digital opportunities while maintaining its commitment to innovation, resilience and sustainability.
Dr Yamson credited MTN Ghana’s growth to the contributions of its employees, customers, regulators and business partners, noting that the company’s success had been built through collaboration.
About 120 golfers participated in the anniversary tournament, which also provided an opportunity for corporate networking and reflection on MTN Ghana’s contribution to Ghana’s digital transformation.
Key takeaway: MTN Ghana is looking to its next phase with a focus on fibre, 5G and AI, while expanding digital access across the country.
