Ericsson and Vodafone Egypt have commercially deployed Ericsson’s RAN Processor 6672, an AI-powered solution designed to support 5G Advanced and modernise Vodafone Egypt’s radio access network. The processor enables AI workloads to run directly at radio sites, allowing the network to respond more quickly to changing traffic and usage conditions.
The RAN Processor 6672 provides up to four times higher processing capacity while reducing energy consumption by more than 50 percent. It can also replace three basebands with a single processor, helping simplify radio sites, reduce energy use and improve the efficiency of existing network assets, including spectrum and sites.
The deployment strengthens the longstanding partnership between Ericsson and Vodafone Egypt and provides a foundation for future network capabilities as traffic and capacity requirements grow. Vodafone Egypt Technology Director Catalin Buliga said the solution will improve processing and energy efficiency while enabling AI at radio sites to support a better customer experience.
