Ericsson and Saudi Arabia’s Mobily have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to test AI applications across Mobily’s radio access network (RAN).
The partnership will explore distributed AI across RAN computing, radios and active antenna systems, alongside centralised AI applications through Ericsson’s Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP).
The companies expect the technology to improve network performance, customer experience, automation and energy efficiency, while supporting the development of autonomous network operations.
Mobily will also gain access to Ericsson’s EIAP ecosystem, which includes more than 100 rApps, software development tools and an AI-powered rApp Developer Assistant.
The partnership could also support future AI-native services, including augmented and virtual reality, autonomous vehicles and physical AI applications
