Huawei and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) have equipped more than 10,000 literacy educators worldwide with digital skills through an online training programme launched in December 2025.
The multilingual course, Improving the Digital Competencies of Literacy Educators, helps educators use digital tools, understand artificial intelligence, evaluate online information critically and integrate technology into adult education.
The 11-session self-paced programme focuses on practical applications. Educators have learned ways to use tools such as WhatsApp, audio clips and interactive digital resources to support learning beyond the classroom and improve reading and writing instruction.
The initiative also emphasises media and information literacy, helping educators teach learners to critically assess digital content and use technology responsibly.
Huawei says its wider digital inclusion efforts have reached more than 1,790 schools and over 700,000 teachers, students and other beneficiaries worldwide.
