Ghana’s Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations plans to send 15 to 20 Ghanaian technology companies to Malawi to support the development of national digital systems, including digital identification, fintech and e-government platforms.
The initiative follows a study visit by a Malawian delegation led by Deputy Chief Secretary Stuart Ligomeka, which came to Ghana to learn from the country’s digital government programmes.
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations Sam Nartey George said Ghana is prepared to share its digital expertise with Malawi, including its artificial intelligence strategy. The proposed business delegation is expected to help translate the two countries’ government-to-government cooperation into private-sector partnerships.
Ghana’s information and communication sub-sector grew 25.2% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, making it the fastest-growing sector of the economy.
No timeline has yet been announced for the proposed delegation, with further technical discussions expected between the two ministries.
