MTN Uganda is expanding its partnership with Starlink to provide satellite broadband connectivity to businesses and organisations in remote and underserved areas.
The service will be integrated into MTN Uganda’s enterprise solutions, offering an alternative for organisations operating in locations where traditional telecommunications infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
The solution could benefit sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, energy and humanitarian services, where reliable connectivity is essential.
MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge said satellite connectivity would complement, rather than replace, terrestrial networks by helping extend reliable connectivity to areas beyond the reach of conventional infrastructure.
The initiative forms part of MTN Group’s broader strategy to incorporate low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite technology into its connectivity offering across selected African markets.
With Uganda’s communications regulator granting Starlink an operational licence in May 2026, the expanded partnership could help businesses, schools and health facilities in hard-to-reach communities maintain access to digital services.
For MTN Uganda, the focus is on combining mobile, fibre and satellite connectivity to close coverage gaps and improve digital access across the country.
