MTN Group has opened a commissioning window for African-produced short-form and premium video content for MTN One TV, its pan-African streaming service launched in June 2026. The call covers micro-dramas, limited series, scripted and unscripted programmes, and feature-length productions.
Producers can pitch projects at Durban FilmMart on September 28 and MIP Africa in Cape Town on October 5. Lead producers must operate through a registered company and have at least seven years of industry experience. MTN said the global short-form video market could reach R423 billion by 2030, while short-drama app downloads rose by more than 140% between Q1 2024 and Q1 2026.
One TV is targeting audiences aged 18 to 34 in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Zambia. Its business model combines free ad-supported viewing, subscriptions and pay-as-you-watch options, with payments through airtime and Mobile Money. MTN, however, stressed that pitching does not guarantee commissioning, investment, licensing or acquisition.
